Parent's Info
History The Dalles Swim Team (TDST) was formed in 1955 by Ted Walker.
Ted Walker came to The Dalles as a swimming instructor and started
the Dalles Swim Team in 1966. He was instrumental in the construction
of the Dalles Natatorium, the local swimming pool, and in 1993
the pool was renamed in his honor. Today, we call our annual summer
swim meet the “Ted Walker Invitational”. TDST strives
to carry on the spirit and tradition created by Ted Walker. The
Dalles Swim Team is an Oregon Nonprofit Corporation (501(c)(3)).
If a child is a registered swimmer, then the parents become members
of this corporation. Copies of the by laws can be obtained upon
written request to the TDST Board of Directors, PO Box 157, The
Dalles, OR 97058.
TDST Team Dues Summer 2010
$115 for the first swimmer (in a family)
$100 for the second swimmer
$85 for the third swimmer
$70 for the fourth swimmer
$65 for each additional swimmer
In addition to team dues, each summer swimmer must pay $36 to
register for the summer with Oregon Swimming (OSI). OSI is the
Local Swimming Committee (LSC) of USA Swimming, which is the national
governing body for competitive swimming. If your swimmer has been
swimming with the winter team, they have already paid this fee.
All paperwork must be completed and received and fees paid prior
to swimmers entering the water. New swimmers will have their fees
held until the swimmer evaluation is complete on the first day
of practice. If they are not evaluated as "water safe and
ready for swim team", all fees will be reimbursed.
Included with their fees, swimmers will receive a team t-shirt,
and new swimmers will receive a team swim cap. Returning swimmers
can purchase new caps ($5 latex, $10 silicone) if needed.
Swimmers will also need to purchase a pool pass from Northern
Wasco Parks and Recreation. These can be purchased at the registration
meetings, or from Parks and Rec at any time prior to the season
beginning. If you already have a family pool pass, that will include
swim team practices.
